Nereson, Ilean ColorNereson, Ilean BW 1

Ilean J. Nereson, 88 (but would have told you she was “39) of Dodge Center joined her husband Harlan E. Nereson and her daughter Anita (Nita) Nereson in heaven on September 12, 2014 in her home with her granddaughter by her side.

Ilean was born May 17, 1926 to Arthur and Henrietta (Nelson) Hyland in Geneva, Minnesota.  On October 27, 1945 at the Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester, she was joined in marriage to Harlan E. Nereson.  Harlan passed away at home on January 21, 1993.

At an early age she became a nurses aid; a job she excelled at and very much fit her compassionate personality.  Ilean’s career consisted of helping her husband at the Rochester Chicken Hatchery, and later on going “on the road” for him when they owned Center Supply in Dodge Center.  She later worked as a “Kelly girl” demonstrating new foods at many Rochester grocery stores.

She was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir at Faith Lutheran Church.  Ilean was a member of the American Legion for 50 continuous years, Eastern Star, Monday Night Musical, Home Extension Study Group and the Birthday Club.  She loved dancing, cooking, canning, was an excellent mender, enjoyed her “scandal sheets” as she called them, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, working hard and doing for others.

Survivors include special granddaughter Simone Sackett of Dodge Center; grandson Joshua Nereson of Rochester; daughter Rita (Adrean) Fernandez of Forks, Washington; son Harlan A. “Tuzz” (Linda) Nereson of Rochester; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Gordon “Scotty” (Linda) Hyland of LaMirada, California; and sister Shirley Hampel of Plainview, MN.

Mrs. Nereson was preceded in death by her husband Harlan E. Nereson, daughter Anita (Nita) Nereson, her parents, one brother and three sisters.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, September 16, from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Dibble Funeral Home, 213 W. Main Street, Kasson, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church.   There will be no reviewal.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 17 at Faith Lutheran Church, 308 2nd St. NW, Dodge Center, MN with Pastor Barbara Streed officiating.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Dodge Center, MN.

Blessed be her memory.
