Joyce Weeks ~ Dodge Center

Joyce (Ripka, Buscovick) Weeks, 70, born December 11, 1945, in Dodge Center, passed away peacefully from complications of an accident on Sunday, July 17, 2016, while surround by loved ones.
 
Joyce lived at the Myrtle Lake Resort in Orr, MN, with her husband of 21 years, Sam Weeks. She loved spending time with her family and friends whom she loved very much, fishing on the lake and wildlife.
 
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Alma Ripka and brothers, Robert and Lawrence Ripka.
 
She is survived by her husband, Sam; daughters Virginia “Ginger” (Dan) Staub, Laura Imhof and Melissa “Missy” (Eddie) Crane; three brothers; seven sisters; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
 
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 24, at the United Methodist Church in Dodge Center. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm at the church on Sunday. Inurnment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Wasioja, MN.
 
Memorial gifts and donations may be made to the family.

Vivian M. Thorn ~ Dodge Center

Vivian Marie (Dresen) Thorn, born July 3, 1920 to Charles Dresesn and Mary (Beacom), passed away on July 15, 2016 at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center where she has resided since 2008. We thank Fairview Care Center for the care given to our mother.
 
Vivian attended school in Sioux City, Iowa and in Lehigh, Montana and on September 5, 1939, married Milo Thorn at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Together, they farmed until they moved to Dodge Center.
 
Vivian was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church where she taught the “Bethel Bible Series” and Sunday School. She worked several years as a bakery clerk and spent 20 Years working at Gaurke’s Department Store where she was known for selling candies to kids before and after school. She was an exemplary mother and kept an immaculate home.
 
She is survived by sons, Kenneth (Deloris) of Osakis, MN; Douglas (Pauline) of Owatonna, MN; Gary (Shirley) of Rochester, MN; Gregory (Bettina) of Fountain, CO; and a daughter, Grace (Alan) Rustan of Byron, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Sandra Wyatt (Frank). She leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 23 at Faith Lutheran Church, 308 – 2nd St. NW, Dodge Center, MN at 11:00am with the Reverend Barbara Streed officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:00-11:00 am. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Mantorville, MN,
 
Memorials can be given to Faith Lutheran Church.

Dolores Bordelon ~ Mantorville

Dolores L. Bordelon, 84, of Mantorville, MN passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at her home. The daughter of Winstad and Verdis Brouillette, she was born on December 9, 1931 in New Orleans, LA. On December 14, 1947, she married Lee Roy Bordelon, Sr. in Moreauville, LA.
 
She is survived by daughter Cheryl (Richard) Purdue of Byron, MN and sons Bruce (Kristin) Bordelon and Lee Roy (Connie) Bordelon, Jr., both of rural Mantorville.
 
A Mass Of The Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Holy Family, 1904 N. Mantorville Ave, Kasson, MN on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:30 am with Fr. Paul Surprenant officiating. There will be no visitation. A rosary will be said just preceding the mass at 10:00 am. Burial will be in St. Margaret’s Cemetery, Mantorville, MN.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the American Heart Association.

Thomas Paul Heymann ~ Kasson

Tom Heymann, 67, of Kasson, MN passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on July 4, 2016, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease with Lewy Body dementia diagnosed in 2003.
 
Tom was born to Carl & Pearl (Penkert) Heymann on July 4, 1949, in New Ulm, MN. He moved to Rochester, MN, where he attended Hawthorne Elementary, Central Junior High, John Marshall High School, and was a member of the first graduating class of Mayo High School in 1967. He attended RCC and was drafted in 1969 to the Army where he served as a Military Policeman in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1971. He worked for 35 years at Stauffer Chemical in Rochester; later named Kerry, Incorporated until his retirement in 2006 due to illness.
 
In 1974, Tom married Gwen Holmberg. They moved to Kasson in 1976 where they raised their family. Tom loved hunting with his Labrador dogs, fishing, nature, his American Flyer trains, going to the casino and playing pull tabs. Tom was a member of the American Legion Post 333. He loved to spend time with his grandkids and had many friends.
 
Tom is survived by his wife, Gwen (Holmberg) Heymann; one son Adam (Sarah Truax) and grandkids Abbigail and Aubrey of Rochester; two daughters, Melissa Holmberg (Gary Wenzel) and grandkids Devon of Faribault and Destiny of Hayfield, and Emily Heymann (Nick Rietheimer) and grandkids Kaelyn, Paisley and Axel of Waltham; and one sister, Carla Thompson of Stewartville.
 
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Pearl Heymann; brother-in-law Ray Thompson; sister-in-law Judy Lee; father-in-law Earl Holmberg; mother-in-law June Holmberg and nephew Kasey Stafford.
 
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016, from 2:00-5:00 pm at the American Legion Post 333, 212 West Main St, Kasson, 507/634-4353. All friends and family are welcome to come and share memories.
 
Tom chose to donate his body for medical research. There will be a private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials for them to distribute later according to their wishes.

Donald R. Aarsvold ~ Former Kasson Resident

Donald R. Aarsvold, 93, formerly of Kasson, MN passed away at 4:00 am on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Zumbrota Health Services, Zumbrota, MN.
 
Donald was born July 20, 1922 in rural Peterson, Minnesota, to Joseph and Clara Aarsvold. Later they moved to Kasson, Minnesota, where Donald grew up on the family farm. He was baptized and confirmed at South Zumbro Lutheran Church in rural Kasson.
 
After eighth grade graduation, he joined his father working on the farm. Church activities were always a priority, including choir and Luther league as a youth. Later in his adult life, he devoted his time to Christian mission work. In June of 1946, he married Lillian Peterson and to this union they were blessed with four children; Dennis, Cheryl, Mark and Donna.
 
After farming for 20 years, Donald and Lillian accepted a call to serve as lay missionaries for the American Lutheran Church in Brazil, South America. They served as house parents for missionaries’ children for 11 years. They returned to the United States and served as resident counselors to the students at Lutheran Bible Institute, Anaheim, California for six years. They retired in Kasson, Minnesota, in 1984. In 2013, they moved to the Zumbrota Care Facility, Zumbrota, Minnesota, where Donald died. He is now in his eternal home with his Lord, whom he loved to serve.
 
Survivors include his wife, Lillian, “the love of his life”; children, Dennis (Marilyn) Aarsvold, Cheryl (Les) Kyllo, Mark (Kim) Aarsvold, and Donna (Scott) Tollefson; nine grandchildren, Justin (Niki) Aarsvold, Jill Aarsvold & Steve Brady, Marcus Aarsvold, Leann (Luke) Peterson, Brandon Kyllo & Shannon Zeien, Laura (Tony) Johnson, Marin (Alcilito) Lopes, Jennifer Tollefson and Raquel Tollefson; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters-in law, Charlotte (Milfred) Aarsvold and Norma (Robert) Aarsvold. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara Aarsvold; brother Wallace and his wife Lorraine; brother Milton and his wife Dorothy, and brothers Milfred and Robert. Donald loved his family and cherished each and every one of them. Blessed be his memory.
 
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, from 5:00-7:00 pm at South Zumbro Lutheran Church, 4830 – 120th Ave South, Kasson, MN with Pastor Mark Schwartz officiating. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 6, at 11:00 am at South Zumbro Lutheran Church with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery immediately following the service.
